Julie Walchli

Julie has worked in the field of co-operative education since 1997 when she founded the first co-op education program in Arts at UBC in the English Department. Since then she has helped to create an Arts-wide program for students throughout all undergraduate programs, masters programs, and recently to PhD students in the English and History Departments. In her current role, she oversees the Faculty's workplace learning programs, and works with faculty members to integrate career education throughout the undergraduate experience. During 2008/09 she completed a secondment with the UBC Go Global International Learning Programs Office, creating a Student Safety Abroad policy and resources for UBC, and a handbook for faculty members leading Group Study Programs Abroad.
Julie has served in a number of leadership roles in the co-op community, including President of the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education (now CEWIL Canada) and President of the BC Co-op Association. She is currently Co-Director of the Canada Japan Co-op Program, a consortium of colleges and universities across Canada, which is housed at UBC.
