Lisa Bartlett

Sea to Sky School District 48
Whistler, BC
Lisa Bartlett is currently a principal in Whistler, British Columbia, part of the Sea to Sky School District #48. She has been an elementary and secondary teacher, district coordinator and school administrator for 20 years. She has worked as a district coordinator of school improvement, professional development, education technology & of French Language programs. Lisa learned about the Deeper Learning approach through Monica R. Martinez at the annual Deeper Learning ( http://deeper-learning.org) conference last spring at High Tech High in San Diego California ( http://www.hightechhigh.org ). The Deeper Learning approach helps create a foundation for a collaborative learning community where teachers are learning designers and students are active learners. In Sea to Sky School District 48, we are proud of our district’s Education Plan entitled Pathways to Learning:https://sd48seatosky.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/sd48strategicplan.pdf . The Deeper Learning approach, the district’s education plan and the province’s new redesigned curriculum ( https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca ) come together seamlessly to ensure all students master content knowledge, are critical thinkers and problem solvers, productive collaborators, effective communicators, and learn how to learn and develop an academic mindset.
