BCCIE Summer Conference provides an essential platform for the growth of BC’s International Education sector. BCCIE’s annual conference brings together more than 400 participants from our province, across Canada and beyond our borders. The conference attracts senior leaders, researchers, practitioners, student service providers, administrators, government, NGOs, and students to explore these ideas with the aim of strengthening our work and taking steps towards advancing outstanding leadership in the fields of International Education in BC.

Global Affairs Canada is working with clients of the Trade Commissioner Service to help diversify markets. One of the avenues of diversification in the Education sector is the export of Education services such as corporate/ skills training, capacity building, curriculum development, etc.. Tim has been tasked with identifying Canadian capabilities, particularly with regards to niche offers. The objective of his meetings at BCCIE is to meet with Canadian institutions interested in these types of opportunities. The information gathered will be used by our Trade Commissioners (in Education and other sectors), across our network of over 160 missions abroad, to promote Canada’s capabilities and respond to commercial requests from local government, education or private sector contacts.

Follow to new federal government in place in Mexico last December 2018, and changes in some state level governments. The Mexico education team is focusing its efforts to build strategic relations with key decision makers in both Federal and local governments, to promote Canadian capabilities and identifying opportunities for Canadian education institutions.
· Language training, especially English, continue to be of high importance for Mexican competitiveness. Mexican students in Canada for language training have grown on 40% in the past year.
· Technical education is an increasingly popular option rising over 40% in the past years.
· University graduate and PhD programs, have good opportunities. Potential students can access scholarships, bank loans or personal savings.
