Canadian higher-education institutions (HEIs) have developed strong internationalization strategies and nurtured long-term partnerships with various countries, including the United States and Europe, as well as the Asia Pacific region particularly British Colombian HEIs. The emergence of the Pacific Alliance and the negotiation of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) offer a unique opportunity for Canada to develop new international relations, increase research and academic collaboration and encourage intra-continental partnerships with other countries in the Americas. This session will give participants a better understanding of current trends in higher-education in Latin America and the Caribbean by providing concrete examples of how Canadian HEIs have successfully engaged institutional partners to develop specific projects linked with internationalization, interculturalization and indigenization, thus offering insights to diversify the regional coverage of their own internationalization strategies.
