Many post-secondary work integrated learning programs are keen to offer international experiences to their students, but can struggle with the resources and expertise required to develop relationships with employers, prepare students for international work, and ensure a quality experience. The Canada Japan Co-op Program (CJCP), a consortium of universities and colleges across Canada, has sent nearly 1,200 Canadian co-op students to a range of employers in Japan during its 28 year history, making it one of the oldest and most successful international co-op programs in the world. This session will explore how the CJCP works, and what factors have contributed to its success.
